Sometimes I hate being an adult.

When I bump into relatives or friends of the family, they always tell me “Oh, you have a good job! Now, you’re well off and living on your own! You no longer need your parents to support you financially! My kids are still living with me and asking money everyday. But you — you’re set. I’m proud of you!” If only they knew how much debt I’m in. Yes, I have a great paying job… But the more hours I put out, the more I make. The more I make, the more tax is deducted. Let me tell you, it fucking sucks.

I’m at a point where I’m living off paycheck to paycheck just to get by. I’m still in the process of paying off my credit cards (yes plural!) debts from my past insane shopping habit. On top of that, I have 4 student loan repayments. Today, I had to suck it up and apply for voluntary forbearance on those loans so I can get caught up with everything and still be able to have a little extra for groceries and gas.

I used to be the one that loaned out money to family and friends, and now here I am the one that may have to put aside my pride and ask for a loan.

I know exactly how you feel! Living on your own is tough and I can’t stress enough how sometimes we have to rid ourselves of our spending habits just to make ends meet. I don’t like asking for help because then that means that it’s more money that I owe.

Shannon: Exactly!! That’s why I’m so hesitant in asking help… I’m hoping this upcoming paycheck will help me get by for another 2 weeks.

I’ve definitely been in that situation. Maybe with a budget you’ll be able to get those debts take n care of. You may also want to look into asking for a settlement from the credit card companies. I know some of them will offer you a settlement and allow you to pay in 3 installments.

Wow, I’m sorry to hear about how tight money is; definitely know how that goes. Unfortunately, I’m one of those people your relatives/family friends talk about; fully dependent on my parents. It’s better that all this is happening while you’re young. Rather than having to deal with it later in life :)
